Terms of service
Effective September 16, 2026
The short version: your comics stay yours, you promise you have the rights to what you upload, translations are AI-generated and need your review, and the pilot is free. Here is the full version.
1. The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and Anthony Lamelas, a sole proprietor doing business as Verse ("Verse", "we"). By creating an account or using Verse you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use Verse.
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must read these terms and agree to them on your behalf, and by letting you use Verse they do.
2. The service
Verse detects the text on comic pages you provide, translates it with the help of an AI model, removes the original lettering, and re-letters the page with your edited translation. You download the result.
Translations are machine-generated and may be wrong. They can miss tone, mistranslate names, or misread text. You are responsible for reviewing and editing every page before you publish it. Verse is a tool, not a translator you have hired.
Verse is in a pilot. Features may change, be limited, or be withdrawn while we learn what creators need. We will tell you about material changes.
3. Your account
- Give us a working email address and keep it current.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your login.
- One person per account. Do not share it or sell access to it.
- Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
4. Your content
You own your artwork and your translations. Nothing in these terms transfers any rights in your comics to us.
So that Verse can work, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to process your content only as needed to provide the service to you: to read the text on a page, translate it, clean and re-letter the page, and return it. Your artwork is processed in memory and never stored by us; the text and layout are stored so you can keep editing. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
You promise that you have the right to everything you upload. That means the comics are your own work, or you hold a licence that lets you translate and re-letter them. It also means any font you upload is one whose licence allows it to be embedded and used to render text. Verse is built for creators localizing their own work, and we take infringement claims seriously.
If we receive a credible notice that content in your account infringes someone else's rights, we may remove it or suspend the account. Send notices, including notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, to anthony.lamelas23@gmail.com.
5. What you must not do
- Upload content you do not have the rights to, or content that is unlawful.
- Use Verse to produce material that is defamatory, harassing, or that violates another person's rights.
- Probe, scrape, reverse-engineer, or overload the service, or work around the plan limits.
- Resell access to Verse or offer it as your own service.
6. Fees
Verse is free during the pilot, within the page limits shown in the app. If we introduce paid plans we will announce them, publish the prices and any refund terms, and give you the choice before anything is charged. We will not charge you for something you did not sign up for.
7. Third-party services
Verse depends on providers we do not control, including the AI model that translates your text and the infrastructure that processes your pages. They are listed in the privacy policy. An outage at one of them can make Verse unavailable, and we are not liable for their services or their terms.
8. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Verse at any time. During the pilot, to close your account email anthony.lamelas23@gmail.com and we will delete it and everything tied to it. Your downloaded pages are yours and are unaffected.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we have to wind down the service. Where we can, we will give you notice and time to download your work. The sections on your content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law survive the end of the agreement.
9. Disclaimers
Verse is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that translations will be accurate or fit for publication, or that the output will not infringe anyone's rights. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Verse. Our total liability for any claim relating to Verse is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and 100 US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you uploaded without the right to do so, or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover the costs and damages that result, including reasonable legal fees.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved between us will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you and we each consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EEA or the UK, you keep any protection your local law gives you that cannot be overridden by contract.
13. Changes to these terms
The effective date at the top tells you when these terms last changed. If we make a material change we will email account holders before it takes effect. Using Verse after that date means you accept the new terms.
